Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has made an impassioned plea to Igbos living abroad, particularly those residing in Ghana, encouraging them to return to their homeland and invest in the Southeast region of Nigeria.

Edochie’s appeal comes in response to increasing tensions in Ghana, where recent protests have seen some locals calling for the deportation of Nigerians amid accusations of rising criminal activity.

In a message shared on his Facebook page, Edochie suggested that the backlash should not be met with animosity but rather viewed as a spiritual prompting to reconnect with their roots.

“Ndi Igbo, come back home and invest in Igbo land. If you’re facing rejection on foreign soil, it’s not a sign to fight. It’s a sign to return home,” he wrote.

Edochie characterized the situation as a call from Igbo ancestors to rebuild the region, emphasizing that a new era of unity and development is beginning in the Southeast.

Referencing a traditional proverb, he concluded: “Ana amalu mma si na uno wee puo ilo,” which translates to “beauty begins at home before it shines outside.”
