Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was announced on Friday by the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, in a statement shared on social media.

Yilwatda described Mutfwang’s decision as a major boost to the ruling party’s growing political strength, noting that it reflects a commitment to progressive governance and development.

“On behalf of the National Working Committee and the entire family of the All Progressives Congress, I warmly welcome His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, into our great party,” Yilwatda said.

He added that the governor’s decision was “a bold and patriotic step” driven by a desire to serve the people of Plateau State and Nigeria.

“Today’s registration is a statement of hope and a commitment to a shared vision of inclusive development, peace, and prosperity for Plateau State,” he stated.

Yilwatda assured the governor of the party’s support, pledging to work closely with him to strengthen the APC and deliver democratic dividends to the people.

Details surrounding the circumstances of Mutfwang’s defection were not immediately disclosed.

The defection followed earlier reports that the governor had resigned from his former party amid speculations of his move to the APC.
