The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru, has stated that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is not a member of the party but serves under the APC-led administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines, Basiru clarified that although Wike does not belong to the APC, he works for the federal government headed by Tinubu.
Basiru attributed the APC’s success in the recent FCT local government elections to the level of infrastructural development witnessed across the territory over the past two and a half years. He said the improvements were visible not only in urban centres but also in suburban communities, describing the minister’s performance as sterling.
According to him, the minister’s administrative efforts, combined with the party’s strategic engagement and careful selection of candidates with credible political backgrounds across different parties, contributed significantly to the APC’s victory in the FCT.
He maintained that the effective delivery of democratic dividends in the FCT under the current administration played a major role in the party’s electoral success.
