Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, has condemned the “systematic destruction” of his Christmas billboards in the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency of Imo State. Addressing supporters, Ugochinyere described the acts as “petty” and a sign of “political intolerance” within the state. He noted that the billboards, which he paid for, also displayed the Action Peoples Party (APP) logo.

Ugochinyere also announced that he is concluding consultations to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He cited internal crises, legal disputes, leadership failures, and neglect of his contributions as reasons for his decision, stating that the party treats them as unimportant. He has accepted the resolutions of his constituents to end the relationship with the PDP for their collective interest. Chima Amadi and Mathew Nwogbo will join the APP on December 31st, and a rally will be held to unveil his new political platform. Unless a “magical” change occurs, this exit is permanent.

Ugochinyere also recalled the alleged sealing of a venue for a civic reception in his honor and criticized the heavy security deployment. He warned that “overheating the security situation” could deepen national instability and that Imo has started locking up public spaces meant for lawful events, despite payments and approvals.

The Action Peoples Party (APP) is a registered political party in Nigeria. The party’s national chairman is Uchenna Nnadi, and the national secretary is Abu Ibrahim Sossan. The APP’s vision includes national reforms that are progressive and aimed at improving the lives of the Nigerian people, with a focus on technological and industrial self-reliance.
