The United States has imported more than two million barrels of aviation fuel from the Dangote refinery this March, confirming the refinery’s reputation for high-quality products and the trust placed in it by the international community.
According to a statement from the refinery, six vessels carrying approximately 1.7 million barrels of jet fuel have already arrived at U.S. ports this month. Additionally, the Hafnia Andromeda is scheduled to reach the Everglades terminal on March 29 with about 348,000 barrels of jet fuel.
These shipments highlight the Dangote refinery’s significant production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day and its potential to reshape global fuel trading dynamics, establishing itself as a key supplier in the Atlantic Basin.
Dr. Muda Yusuf, economist and CEO of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprises, noted that exporting jet fuel to the U.S. is a source of national pride for Nigeria. He emphasized that the ability to meet stringent international quality standards reflects positively on the Dangote refinery and the country as a whole.
The refinery has also previously demonstrated its competitiveness by exporting gasoline to markets such as Saudi Arabia, showing its capability to challenge domestic producers in the world’s largest fuel-consuming market.
