President Bola Tinubu has formally approached the Senate to request the screening and confirmation of Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) as the new National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This request was presented in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a session.
In addition to Amupitan’s nomination, Tinubu also sought the Senate’s confirmation for Mrs. Ayo Omidiran as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), along with 28 other appointments as Federal Commissioners, including Dr. Ibrahim Abdullahi from Kwara State.
Senator Akpabio has forwarded these requests to the committee of the whole for prompt legislative action.
