President Bola Tinubu announced plans to construct a new national secretariat for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja during the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre.

“We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat,” Tinubu stated, though he did not provide specific financial details for the project. This initiative aims to enhance the party’s infrastructure and operational capabilities as it navigates the political landscape ahead of future elections.

Currently, the APC’s national secretariat is situated at the Muhammadu Buhari House, located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja. The building was named after former President Muhammadu Buhari following its acquisition for N2.5 billion in June 2021. The party moved its operations there later that year.

Despite holding its last NEC meeting at Buhari House, Thursday’s emergency meeting was relocated to the Presidential Villa, highlighting the party’s evolving administrative strategies. This new secretariat is expected to serve as a central hub for the party’s activities, fostering better coordination and communication among its members.

The announcement has sparked discussions among party members about the implications for the APC’s future direction and its commitment to modernizing its operations. As the party prepares for upcoming political challenges, the establishment of a new national secretariat could play a pivotal role in strengthening its presence and influence across the country.
