In a shocking incident on Wednesday evening, a 30-year-old man named Darlington Watson was stoned to death by rival cult members in the Agudama-Epie community of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. This brutal act is part of an ongoing conflict between two cult groups, the Greenlanders and the Bobous, vying for control over a new transport terminal in the area.
According to eyewitness accounts, Watson, a member of the Greenlanders, was forcibly removed from a moving tricycle by suspected members of the rival group. He was then severely beaten with sticks and stones, leading to his death from the injuries sustained. The incident occurred around 5:15 PM near a Pentecostal church in Agudama-Epie.
The Bayelsa State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are underway to apprehend those responsible for the attack. Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Musa Mohammed, advised youths against joining cults, emphasizing the dangers and consequences involved.
