The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced maintenance activities that will disrupt power supply in various areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This information was shared in a statement on Saturday by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs.

TCN plans to conduct maintenance at two transmission substations over the weekend. On Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., maintenance will be performed on a 60MVA power transformer and its associated switchgear at the Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation.

On Sunday, maintenance will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on one of the 60MVA power transformers at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation. This work will lead to power interruptions in Wuye, EFCC, Federal Medical Centre, Coca-Cola, Idu Railway Station, Citec, and Life Camp.

The statement noted: “Today, Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., maintenance will be carried out at the Gwagwalada substation. During this time, Abuja DisCo will be unable to supply electricity to customers in Gwagwalada and nearby areas for four hours.”

It further explained that the maintenance at Kukwaba on Sunday would similarly result in power outages in the specified locations.

TCN apologized for any inconvenience this may cause, especially during the year-end and holiday season, but emphasized the necessity of these maintenance activities for the optimal performance of power equipment.
