A disturbing incident unfolded at a hotel in the Orazi area of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Rivers State, where armed thugs interrupted a live interview being conducted by Arise TV. The interview featured Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa, a former commissioner for employment generation and empowerment, who was discussing the political climate in the state.

Eyewitnesses reported that the thugs stormed the hotel around 9:15 PM, aggressively searching for Nwibubasa and the Arise TV crew. They forced their way into rooms, shouting and threatening hotel staff and guests, causing chaos.

A member of the Arise TV team recounted receiving a distress call regarding the attack and quickly alerted the police. Upon his arrival, he found the police already present, responding to the situation. The police escorted Nwibubasa and the journalists to safety as they reported the incident.

During the altercation, the Arise TV cameraman, identified as Promise, had his equipment seized by the assailants, who fled upon the arrival of law enforcement.

Dr. Nwibubasa condemned the incident as detrimental to democratic processes, especially with upcoming elections. He expressed concern over the aggressive behavior demonstrated by the attackers, warning that such actions threaten the integrity of the political landscape.
