Dr. Nonye Soludo, the wife of Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, has extended an invitation to Miss Jenifer Elohor, a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was assaulted by operatives of the Agunechemba security outfit. Dr. Soludo expressed her sympathy and concern over the incident during a phone call with the victim.
Miss Elohor, currently outside Anambra State, has promised to visit the government house upon her return. An aide to Dr. Soludo noted that the corps member was touched by the governor’s wife’s humility and expressed eagerness to meet her.
In the wake of the assault, the Anambra State government has confirmed the arrest of the officers involved. Ken Emeakayi, the Special Adviser on Community Security, stated that while the operatives were on a legitimate mission to pursue suspected cultists, their conduct during the operation was “unacceptable and regrettable.” The officers allegedly assaulted Miss Elohor while searching premises associated with the suspects.
Emeakayi assured that the state government is actively investigating the matter and that appropriate disciplinary actions will follow. The eight operatives involved have been paraded and are currently in detention as investigations continue.
Dr. Soludo had previously condemned the actions of the security outfit and emphasized the need for justice as a deterrent to future misconduct.
