Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has dismissed allegations linking him to the sponsorship of the so-called “Autopilot” faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra, describing the claims as baseless and unfounded.

Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, criticised IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, branding him a “faceless” figure and insisting that anyone making such serious allegations should be willing to appear in public. He threw an open challenge for a face-to-face television debate, saying that the issues at hand cannot be addressed through anonymous statements.

According to the senator, he has no ties to any splinter group or faction within the pro-Biafra movement, stressing that he has never met or engaged with individuals associated with the alleged “Autopilot” group. He maintained that the accusation was part of a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

IPOB, through its spokesperson, had earlier accused Kalu of having links with the faction and questioned his repeated comments about insecurity in the South-East. The group insisted that the senator must clarify his claims and provide evidence for his position on activities linked to separatist elements.
