The Rivers State Executive Council has annulled a N134 billion contract awarded by former Sole Administrator Vice Admiral Ikot Ete Ibas (rtd) for the reconstruction of the aging State Secretariat complex in Port Harcourt. This decision was reached during a council meeting where it was also directed that the contractor, CCECC, refund the N20 billion mobilization fee already disbursed.
In addition to this, the council approved the establishment of a six-member committee, led by Deputy Governor Prof. Ngozi Odu, to evaluate and recommend the construction of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers across the state to facilitate external examinations. The council has also instructed the flood committee, chaired by the Deputy Governor, to promptly address flooding issues in the state and warned residents against obstructing drainage channels.
