National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a strong warning that any group or individual attempting to exploit communities or undermine Nigeria’s peace will be met with swift, coordinated action. Speaking at a dialogue on preventing violence in Northern Nigeria, he noted that the country has secured 775 terrorism-related convictions, each representing “a life restored and a community stabilised.”
Ribadu cautioned against complacency, stressing that national peace efforts must go beyond speeches and translate into measurable community-based actions. He highlighted Nigeria’s resilience despite years of security challenges, adding that the country remains the only functioning democracy in the entire Sahel region.
He reassured citizens that security agencies continue to make daily sacrifices, urging religiouğs and traditional leaders to sustain their moral support. According to him, true national security begins at the community level, where empowered local structures can drastically reduce the need for military intervention.
Ribadu affirmed that Nigeria will overcome its current security trials, insisting that the nation desires peace and has the collective strength to rebuild trust, restore order, and secure long-term stability across all regions.
