Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the Federal Government to release monthly allocations to the court-reinstated local government chairmen in Osun State. This appeal was made during a press conference in Osogbo, the state capital.
Oyintiloye emphasized that the reinstated chairmen have been unable to fulfill their duties since 2022 when they were removed from office. With the recent Court of Appeal ruling in their favor, he believes it is crucial for the government to start releasing funds to enable them to work effectively for their communities.
He further criticized the state government’s spending on the recent local government elections as a waste of taxpayer money, insisting on accountability for the funds used. “This is the time for people at the grassroots to feel the impact of government, which has been neglected since 2022,” he stated.
Additionally, he commended the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for his professional handling of security issues in the state and urged local government staff to return to work, assuring them of adequate security measures in place.
Oyintiloye’s remarks come amidst ongoing political tensions in Osun State, highlighting the need for governance that prioritizes grassroots development.
