The Presidency has dismissed claims by former Kano State Governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, that the Tinubu administration is neglecting Northern Nigeria.
Kwankwaso had raised concerns during a stakeholders’ meeting on constitutional reform in Kano, warning that federal resources are disproportionately favouring the South while insecurity and poverty continue to deepen in the North. He also decried the poor state of federal roads, narrating a frustrating road trip from Abuja to Kano.
In response, Presidential Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, refuted the allegations via his official social media handle. He described Kwankwaso’s claims as “incorrect,” asserting that the Tinubu administration is executing numerous landmark projects across the North.
Dare cited ongoing infrastructure and development initiatives, including the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway, Kano–Maiduguri Road, the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Gas Pipeline, and the Kolmani Integrated Oil Project. He also referenced major investments in health, agriculture, and energy — including the expansion of teaching hospitals and the revitalisation of over 1,000 primary health centres.
The presidency reiterated that the North remains a priority, with several multi-billion-naira interventions actively being implemented across key sectors.
