A police officer attached to the 12 PMF in Minna, Niger State, has died after fatally shooting himself during a routine arms audit. The incident occurred on December 16, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., following the officer’s earlier arrest on December 15 for suspected involvement in illegal ammunition dealings.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdullahi Isah was being escorted to his office as part of ongoing audit and investigative procedures. While the arms audit was underway, DSP Isah reportedly picked up a pistol from within the office and shot himself in the head.
In the aftermath of the incident, the policemen assigned to accompany him during the audit were arrested for negligence, accused of failing to prevent the occurrence. Police authorities have confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances surrounding the event.
