The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested six individuals following a violent clash between members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) and commercial motorcyclists in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from the death of a motorcycle ticketing officer, leading to an accusation from the motorcyclists that OPC members were responsible. This sparked a violent confrontation with the use of dangerous weapons such as cutlasses and knives.
Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene to restore order. According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Abutu Sunday, the command responded to a distress call and successfully apprehended six suspects.
The suspects are currently undergoing investigation, with efforts underway to apprehend others involved in the attack.
