The Plateau State Government has organized a mass burial for the 27 victims of a recent attack on the Bindi community in the Riyom Local Government Area. This tragic event occurred on July 15, when gunmen invaded the area, resulting in the deaths of 27 residents and the destruction of homes, crops, and properties worth millions of naira.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the community and promised a dignified burial for the deceased. During the ceremony, Mr. Sati Shuwa, the Chairman of Riyom LGA, expressed deep sorrow over the escalating violence in rural areas, urging the federal government and security agencies to take decisive action to address the ongoing security challenges.

In his emotional address, Shuwa stated, “We are here to honour 27 precious lives that were cut down in a cruel and senseless act of violence.” He acknowledged the profound grief and loss felt by the families of the victims, emphasizing that their pain is shared by the entire community.

Shuwa also commended President Bola Tinubu and Governor Mutfwang for their efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property in Plateau State. The mass burial was attended by government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and community members, all united in mourning the tragic loss.
