Abia State Governor Alex Otti has instructed the unsealing of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu’s office in Umuahia. This decision follows a request from Kalu and was communicated through a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ukoha Njoku.
The office, located on Ojike Street, was sealed by the state Harmonised Task Force as part of an enforcement of court orders relating to unpaid ground rent dating back to 1982. The government clarified that the enforcement was standard procedure targeting properties that had defaulted on statutory obligations, emphasizing that it was not politically motivated.
