Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has voiced strong confidence in his prospects for re-election in the upcoming 2026 governorship election. Adeleke stated that his performance in office has garnered the support of the Osun electorate, ensuring his victory.

Adeleke made these remarks after appearing before the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Screening Committee in Abuja. He emphasized that having defeated an incumbent governor in 2022, he is unafraid of any opponent in 2026, citing his administration’s achievements. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Osun governorship election for August 8, 2026, with party primaries between November 24 and December 15, 2025.

Despite concerns that the All Progressives Congress (APC) might use federal resources against him, Adeleke insisted his popularity in the state is unmatched. He also expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would ensure a level playing field in the coming election.

Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, Chairman of the PDP Gubernatorial Screening Committee, commended Adeleke for defending his credentials.

Meanwhile, an aide to former President Muhammadu Buhari and APC governorship aspirant, Senator Jide Omoworare, has also expressed confidence in winning the 2026 election if given the party’s ticket. The APC has also told Adeleke to prepare his handover note.

Indigenes of Osogbo have appealed to all political parties to zone their governorship ticket to Osogbo for the 2026 election.
