Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has announced the cancellation of his 64th birthday celebration due to the ongoing attacks and killings in the state. This decision was communicated through a statement from his media aide, Terver Akase, in Makurdi on April 23, 2025.
Ortom expressed his deep sympathy for the victims of the recent violence, stating that the focus should be on supporting those affected rather than celebrating. He acknowledged the goodwill messages he received but emphasized the need for solidarity with the families suffering from these tragic events.
The former governor called for prayers for the victims and urged the people of Benue to seek divine intervention to restore peace and security in the region. He also extended his prayers for President Bola Tinubu and other state leaders, asking for wisdom and strength to address the ongoing security challenges.
Despite the grim circumstances, Ortom expressed gratitude for his health and blessings over the past 64 years and reaffirmed his commitment to serving God and humanity in the future.
