The newly crowned Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has called for the creation of Ibadan State from the existing Oyo State. He made this demand during his inaugural speech following the presentation of the staff of office by Governor Seyi Makinde at Mapo Hall.

He emphasized, “If there is only one State to be created, Mr. President, let it be Ibadan State. We’re in a hurry.” The Olubadan expressed his commitment to serving the people of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, and Africa, stating that he aims to do good throughout his reign.

Oba Ladoja also expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for the ceremonial honor and acknowledged the support he received from the people of Ibadan leading up to his ascension as the 44th Olubadan. He noted the peaceful resolution of potential crises in Ibadan over the past year, thanking the community for their trust and support.
