The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has praised Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, calling it a historic and strategic move for the region. This commendation came in a statement from the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, who welcomed Mutfwang into the party and expressed gratitude for his decision.
The Forum noted that they had been advocating for Mutfwang to join the APC since April 2024 and now celebrate the culmination of their efforts. The governor’s defection was officially confirmed by APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, during the party’s 14th National Caucus meeting in Abuja.
Additionally, the Forum commended Mutfwang for directing all his aides to join him in the ruling party. They stated that this move represents a significant political milestone, highlighting that the North-Central region is now the only geopolitical zone in Nigeria where all six states are governed by APC governors.
The Forum reiterated its support for Mutfwang, attributing the decision to his performance and the belief that he will achieve more within the APC framework. They also expressed a commitment to assist President Bola Tinubu in delivering democratic benefits to the region and pledged to secure six million votes for his re-election in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
They recalled past efforts to convince Mutfwang to join the APC, including meetings with Plateau APC leaders aimed at strategizing his defection. The Forum dismissed any opposition to his move, asserting that resistance from some Plateau APC leaders stemmed from personal interests.
The statement concluded with a call for seamless integration of Governor Mutfwang into the APC and emphasized the unity of the North-Central region under the APC banner.
