The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting sunshine and hazy conditions nationwide from Sunday to Tuesday.
In its outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, NiMet reported that sunny skies are expected over the northern region throughout the forecast period, while hazy atmospheric conditions are anticipated in the North-Central states.
On Sunday, localized morning thunderstorms with light rainfall are predicted for parts of Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta states. As the day progresses, isolated thunderstorms are expected across Rivers, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states.
For Monday, continued sunshine is expected in the North, with hazy conditions in the North-Central region. Southern states will likely experience cloudy skies in the morning, followed by isolated thunderstorms later in the day.
On Tuesday, sunny and hazy conditions will persist in the northern and North-Central regions, while the South will see cloudy conditions in the morning, before isolated thunderstorms with moderate rainfall develop later in the day.
NiMet advised residents—especially those with respiratory conditions—to take precautions due to suspended dust particles in the air. Motorists are also urged to exercise caution during rainfall.
Airline operators are recommended to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning, and residents are encouraged to stay updated with the agency’s official weather announcements.
