The Nigerian Army today December 10, 2025, held a formal decoration ceremony for 28 senior officers who were recently promoted. The event took place at the Army Headquarters Command Officers’ Mess 1 in Asokoro, Abuja, with Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (Rtd) in attendance.
During the ceremony, General Musa urged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate their dedication, loyalty, and service to the nation. All 28 officers, including one promoted posthumously from Brigadier-General to Major-General, received their new insignia in recognition of their years of selfless service and commitment to national security.
In his address, General Musa praised the officers for their professionalism and courage, emphasizing that their promotions reflect their exceptional leadership within the Armed Forces. He highlighted the importance of inter-service cooperation, intelligence sharing, and unity among all security agencies, acknowledging the vital support provided by the families of the officers.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, also spoke at the event, describing it as a milestone for the Army. He assured that promotions are conducted through a merit-driven, transparent system, and he reaffirmed ongoing efforts to enhance the morale and welfare of troops through improved healthcare and infrastructure.
Representing the decorated officers, Major-General Francis Omata expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for approving their promotions and pledged unwavering loyalty to national service. The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, the Minister of State for Finance, various members of the National Assembly, and other high-ranking officials.
