Senator Ned Nwoko has vehemently denied allegations of domestic violence made against him by his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels. In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, the Delta North senator attributed Regina’s recent violent behavior to her struggles with drug and alcohol abuse.
Nwoko described an incident that occurred in his absence, which he claims led Regina to raise false alarms about domestic assault. He characterized her actions as a “rampage” and stated that substance abuse is at the core of their marital issues.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem,” he wrote, expressing concern for her well-being. Nwoko emphasized the need for Regina to continue her rehabilitation program, warning that her safety is at risk due to her substance issues.
He asserted that he has never been violent toward any of his wives and dismissed Regina’s claims as “false and unfair.” Nwoko alleged that Regina had recently assaulted staff members and caused property damage at their Abuja residence.
The senator has proposed that Regina undergo rehabilitation, either in Nigeria or abroad, with a preference for treatment in Jordan, where he claims she would have no access to drugs. He expressed concern that a sober Regina would have acted differently during a recent medical emergency involving their child.
The controversy intensified following the release of a video on social media, where Regina appeared distressed, claiming she felt like “nothing” in Nwoko’s house. The video depicted a chaotic scene, with Regina surrounded by individuals amid a tense commotion.
Regina’s brother, Ojeogwu Samuel Danhillman (known as Sammy West), publicly supported his sister, accusing Nwoko of assault and warning against any further violence. He expressed his determination to fight for Regina’s safety.
The couple’s marriage has drawn significant media attention, largely due to their considerable age difference—Regina was 19 and Nwoko was 59 at the time of their marriage—and Nwoko’s status as a husband to multiple wives, with Regina being the youngest.
