Malami Demands Court Order as EFCC Operatives Raid Abuja Residence

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, engaged in a heated confrontation with operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) during an early morning raid at his Abuja residence. The encounter was captured in a widely circulated video online.

In the footage, Malami repeatedly demanded to see a valid court order authorizing the operatives’ presence. “Where is your court order? Do you want to disgrace me?” he asked, pressing the officials for legal justification.

The EFCC operatives reportedly informed him that the property was under investigation and claimed they had the authority to mark it. Malami, however, contested this, asserting that any prior authorization had already expired.

“You said the property is under probation; is it still under probation when the order has elapsed?” Malami questioned. “You were at my other house earlier this morning, and now you are here again. Why?”

Challenging the operatives further, he stressed the need for clear legal backing. “The order you are referring to is not specific. It does not give you clear directives to come and mark my property. This matter is already pending in court. Show me where it is stated that you have the authority to be here,” Malami demanded.

The raid follows a separate incident on Monday when operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly stormed another house belonging to Malami in Abuja, asking those present to vacate the premises.

Notably, the current confrontation occurred shortly after former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar visited Malami’s Maitama residence, spending approximately an hour there before departing.

The video of the tense exchange has since sparked widespread discussion online, highlighting concerns over procedural authority, due process, and the conduct of law enforcement agencies in high-profile investigations.
