The All Progressives Congress (APC) is leading in the Lagos State local government elections, which concluded around 3 PM, with sorting and results ongoing across the 57 councils. This comes amid a low voter turnout observed throughout the councils.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after casting his vote at the Adeniji-Adele electoral ward, acknowledged delays due to logistical issues. As of 4 PM, reports indicated that the APC was performing well in areas such as Yaba, Somolu, Bariga, Ikeja, and Agege, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailing and the Labour Party (LP) in third place.
Adebayo Adefuye, the APC chairmanship candidate for Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), praised the electoral process as smooth, free, and fair. He emphasized the significance of the elections, which connect directly with grassroots governance. Adefuye also unveiled his vision for “Yaba tuntun,” indicating a fresh start and a correction of past errors, and expressed strong support for the recent enforcement of local government financial autonomy by the Federal Government.
