Abia State Governor Alex Otti has said that the Labour Party (LP) will produce a presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. He stated that the party’s internal crisis and disagreements are now resolved after the successful national convention held over the weekend in Umuahia, Abia State.
Speaking as the national leader of the LP at the inaugural meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) following the convention, Otti said the party is now focused on rebuilding and moving forward. He expressed confidence in the leadership of the national chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman, saying she has been found worthy to lead the party for the next four years.
Otti also indicated that the Labour Party is open to welcoming back Julius Abure and other suspended members. According to him, many members who were previously aligned with Abure were physically present at the convention, showing that reconciliation is already underway within the party.
When asked about whether Abure could be reintegrated if he chooses to return, Otti said the party has charged the NWC to reconcile and bring back as many people as possible. He emphasized that the party declared “no vanquished and no winners,” adding that the doors remain open and that disagreement has ended, with reintegration now the priority.
