The Kano State Police Command has issued a critical warning to residents amid intelligence reports suggesting that suspected terrorists are planning attacks on public gatherings in the state. This alarming announcement was made by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, on Friday.

In the statement, the police urged the public to exercise heightened caution and avoid crowded places and events until further notice. Haruna emphasized that the warning is a proactive measure to ensure the safety of citizens and facilitate security operatives in identifying and neutralizing potential threats.

“The Kano State Police Command, in liaison with other security agencies, has received intelligence reports of suspected terrorists planning to launch attacks on public gatherings in strategic locations within Kano State,” Haruna stated.

As part of their response, the police have implemented several security arrangements to safeguard the community. A specialized team from the police’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal, along with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear units, has been deployed to key areas known for high foot traffic. These experts are on high alert and ready to respond to any suspicious activities.

Residents are encouraged to report any unusual behavior or suspicious items to the nearest police station or contact the designated hotlines at 08169884988 or 07067157218. The police are emphasizing that community vigilance is crucial in preventing potential attacks.

Haruna reassured the public of the police command’s commitment to maintaining peace and order in Kano State. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation of residents during this tense period and called for continued vigilance.

“Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in ensuring public safety,” he added.

The police command is dedicated to protecting lives and properties and ensuring that Kano remains a safe environment for all its residents.
