Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central) has issued a satirical “apology” to Senate President Godswill Akpabio following her earlier allegations of sexual harassment against him.
Although framed as an apology, the letter dripped with sarcasm, as she “apologized” for maintaining her dignity and refusing Akpabio’s alleged advances. She criticized the expectation of compliance over merit in the legislative process and mocked the supposed entitlement of powerful men.
Natasha had been suspended on March 6 after a dispute over Senate seating arrangements, which she interpreted as punishment for rejecting Akpabio. She later called for international intervention during a UN event, decrying her suspension, salary cuts, and withdrawal of security.
Legal battles ensued, leading to a court order barring both parties from public commentary until further notice.
Nonetheless, while Akpabio was in Rome for Pope Francis’ funeral, Natasha published the biting “apology,” reaffirming her stance:
“I remain Yours in eternal resistance — Unafraid, Unbought, and Unbroken.”
