The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), while withholding the results of 39,834 candidates over suspected examination malpractices.
Registrar of the board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, made this announcement during a press briefing held in Abuja. He said that investigations are ongoing and that candidates whose results were withheld are being scrutinized for various forms of examination misconduct.
The board also disclosed that 80 individuals are currently under investigation for offences ranging from impersonation to collusion and other forms of malpractice. Anambra State reportedly had the highest number of suspects, with 14 candidates under investigation from that state alone.
Professor Oloyede further revealed that 467 underage candidates scored above the minimum benchmark set by the board, highlighting both the increasing participation of minors in the national exam and the level of performance among them. However, 50 candidates were also found to be involved in verified cases of fraud.
The Registrar emphasized JAMB’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of the examination process, reiterating that the board would continue to deploy technological and procedural safeguards to protect the credibility of its exams.
