Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has publicly confronted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the worsening economic situation and rising insecurity across the country, challenging the administration to explain whether this is the “renewed hope” it promised Nigerians.
In a strongly worded open letter shared on his social media page, Edochie expressed deep concern over what he described as a disturbing decline in national security. According to him, kidnappings, banditry and violent attacks have become daily realities for many Nigerians, leaving citizens fearful and uncertain about their safety.
The actor also lamented the economic hardship that continues to affect households nationwide. He said the soaring cost of food, transportation and essential items has pushed many families to the brink, and Nigerians are struggling more than ever to cope with the rising cost of living.
Edochie, who previously expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership capabilities, said he can no longer remain silent in the face of the suffering around him. He stated that although he had once believed strongly that the administration would deliver meaningful change, the current reality has left many questioning the direction of the country.
He asked pointedly: “Is this the renewed hope you promised Nigerians?”
The actor’s comments have sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns and urging the government to take more decisive action. Others view his remarks as a necessary wake-up call for leaders to address the pressing issues affecting the populace.
