The Ministry of Information and National Orientation has addressed concerns regarding the Niger State Government’s directive to suspend Badeggi FM, a radio station in Minna. This decision, announced by Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago during an APC Caucus Meeting on August 1, cited allegations of unethical broadcasting and incitement.
Minister Mohammed Idris emphasized that the authority to suspend broadcasting licenses lies with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) as per legal provisions. He welcomed the decision to report the alleged misconduct to the NBC for resolution.
In a statement, the minister urged all parties to remain calm, assuring that the NBC has the mechanisms to address the issue fairly and impartially. This response aims to reassure stakeholders in the media industry amid rising tensions over the suspension.
