Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has issued a strong warning against attempts to create discord between him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. He asserted that such actions undermine effective collaboration and deprive the state of the benefits that could arise from their combined efforts.

Speaking at the Gindiri Old Students Association reunion in Gindiri, Mutfwang emphasized the potential advantages for Plateau State through a united working relationship with Yilwatda, given their significant roles. He declared that they are not in competition and expressed a desire for an end to the divisive narratives circulating within political circles.

Mutfwang made it clear that Yilwatda’s position is not adversarial, insisting that they can work together to enhance the prospects for Plateau State. He urged the community to foster unity rather than sow discord, emphasizing that if both leaders approach discussions with the intent to benefit their state, it would ultimately serve the greater good.

In previous statements, Mutfwang has acknowledged Yilwatda as a distinguished son of Plateau, recognizing his positive contributions to society through academia and nation-building. He also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for visiting Plateau to attend Yilwatda’s mother’s funeral, viewing it as a demonstration of national unity.

However, tensions remain, with reports of a pro-Tinubu group advising Yilwatda to avoid personal animosity towards Mutfwang, which could jeopardize Tinubu’s re-election efforts. Additionally, a PDP stalwart has criticized Yilwatda’s explanations regarding rumors of Mutfwang’s potential defection to the APC, further complicating the political landscape.
