Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has pledged to exhaust all efforts to ensure Abia State is won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming 2027 general elections. Kalu made this commitment during his annual New Year visit to APC Chairman in Ebonyi, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area.
The former governor of Abia State expressed his determination to help the APC reclaim power from the ruling Labour Party, stating, “I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections.” He emphasized that his focus is on securing a significant victory for the APC, despite his friendship with the incumbent governor, Dr. Alex Oti.
Kalu called on state governors to take responsibility for security in their areas rather than relying solely on President Tinubu. Reflecting on his tenure as governor, he noted the lack of crime and insecurity during his administration, contrasting it with current challenges faced by other states.
He acknowledged the loyalty of Okoro-Emegha, describing him as someone trustworthy and integral to his past successes. Kalu stressed the importance of loyalty in politics, encouraging unity within the party as they prepare for the elections.
