Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) after receiving his party membership card at Government House in Port Harcourt. This significant event was facilitated by the Rivers State APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, who represented the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda.
In his address at the ceremony, Governor Fubara articulated that his decision to join the APC was motivated by a desire to promote unity and foster development in Rivers State. He emphasized the importance of aligning with the ruling party at the federal level to ensure political stability and propel development initiatives within the state.
Fubara expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from President Bola Tinubu, stating that backing the President was not just a political maneuver but a recognition of Tinubu’s efforts in sustaining the Rivers State government during challenging times.
The Governor stated, “Now that Rivers State is united under one political family with the federal government, the task ahead to strengthen the APC and secure a smooth political sail into 2027 has become clearer and more achievable.” He further assured the national leadership of the APC that Rivers State would remain a stronghold of the party under his administration.
During the event, Fubara thanked the leaders and supporters who stood by him, encouraging them to renew their commitment as the state enters a new phase of political consolidation and development.
In remarks made on behalf of Yilwatda, Tony Okocha congratulated Fubara on his decision, which he described as patriotic and beneficial for the state. Okocha noted that the governor’s entry into the APC marks a new chapter for unity among political leaders in Rivers State.
