Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has approved the redeployment of cabinet members and reassignment of responsibilities among members of the State Executive Council following a wave of resignations.

The directive, contained in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, comes after the Chief of Staff, Hassan Gamawa, and six commissioners stepped down to pursue political ambitions.

To fill the resulting gaps, the governor ordered immediate reassignment of duties pending the appointment of substantive replacements. Under the new arrangement, Hashimu Yakubu, Principal Private Secretary, will oversee the Office of the Chief of Staff, while Dr Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam has been deployed to supervise the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.

Similarly, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub (SAN), will take charge of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, has been assigned to oversee the Ministry of Water Resources.

The Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will supervise the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties, while Amina Muhammad Katagum, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, will oversee the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.

In the same vein, Mohammed Sadiq Shira, Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, has been directed to supervise the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. The Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, retired DIG Sani Mohammed, will oversee the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.

Governor Mohammed urged the reassigned officials to take full responsibility in their new roles and ensure continuity in governance. He also directed them to work closely with permanent secretaries in managing the affairs of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

He wished the outgoing officials success in their future political pursuits while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to effective service delivery.
