Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially dismissed all commissioners and public office holders in his administration. This decision follows a recent Supreme Court ruling and takes immediate effect.
The news was conveyed through a statement by Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, on Wednesday evening. During a session marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary at Government House, Fubara expressed gratitude to the outgoing officials for their contributions over the past two years. The governor emphasized the importance of national unity and urged all Nigerians to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu for a peaceful and prosperous future.
The statement confirmed that all affected officials were relieved of their duties immediately due to the recent Supreme Court judgment.
Previously, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.) had suspended Fubara’s appointees upon assuming control during an emergency rule. Following Ibas’s exit on September 18, uncertainty lingered regarding the fate of Fubara’s officials. The Rivers State House of Assembly recently called for a new list of commissioner nominees and the 2025 budget for screening.
Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to serving Rivers State with renewed vigor and thanked the citizens for their support.
