Fubara Makes First Public Appearance After Suspension

Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made his first public appearance since his removal from office following a political crisis in the state.

Fubara attended a church service at the headquarters of Salvation Ministries in GRA, Port Harcourt, on Sunday, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie.

His appearance comes just days after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, citing political instability and security concerns. This led to the suspension of Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and all members of the state House of Assembly.

In response to the crisis, President Tinubu appointed Ibok-Ete Ibas as the Sole Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs for six months.

Fubara’s suspension has sparked controversy, with former President Goodluck Jonathan and Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka condemning the decision. Meanwhile, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has taken legal action against Tinubu over the suspension of Fubara and other officials.

As political tensions continue to rise, calls for dialogue between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, have intensified, with stakeholders urging both parties to sign a peace pact within 90 days.
