Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the UK Conservative Party, has urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government to adopt the Conservatives’ newly proposed deportation bill in order to drastically reduce immigration levels. In a video posted to her official X (formerly Twitter) account, Badenoch warned that, without urgent legal reforms, nearly two million immigrants could automatically obtain British citizenship by next year — nearly double the population of Birmingham.

The Conservative proposal, which was published earlier in the week, introduces sweeping changes to the UK’s immigration system. These include automatic deportation of foreign criminals, mandatory age verification for immigrants, stricter visa requirements, limiting the use of the Human Rights Act in immigration cases, making asylum support repayable, and denying permanent residency to migrants who rely on state benefits.

Badenoch emphasized that unless this bill becomes law, Britain’s immigration crisis will persist, adding, “Our country is a home, not a hotel.” She framed the legislation as necessary to restore public trust and control over the country’s borders, and challenged Labour to adopt the bill immediately.
