Following rumors about Governor Ademola Adeleke’s potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has expressed unwavering support for the governor, stating they will follow him to any party he chooses.
After a meeting at the Government House in Osogbo, the caucus passed a vote of confidence in Adeleke, emphasizing their solidarity with his decisions regarding the growing speculation of a party switch. A statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed this stance and highlighted that the caucus praised Adeleke’s leadership and performance in office.
The meeting included representatives from various sections of the party and government, including the National Assembly caucus, State Assembly caucus, and the State Executive Council. Additionally, prominent figures such as the deputy governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, and former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola attended.
The ongoing speculation about Adeleke’s defection has created tension among members of both the APC and PDP, with supporters from both sides engaging in discussions about potential leadership changes should the governor officially switch parties.
As the situation develops, the caucus has acknowledged that the governor is still in consultation regarding his next steps.
