The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT), Lagos Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), announced the seizure of expired pharmaceutical products worth over N130 million. This was revealed during the presentation of the operational report for the first half of the year by the Customs Area Controller, Eghosa Edelduok.
The enforcement team intercepted the contraband in two 40-foot containers identified as HLBU 1067338 and HLBU 2239792. Edelduok stated that the items contravened the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import laws. The contraband has been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further action.
Edelduok emphasized the Command’s commitment to applying the law rigorously to protect public health while upholding transparency, accountability, and professionalism in its operations.
In addition, she reported that the command generated N89.2 billion from January to June 2025, a significant increase from N54.8 billion in the same period in 2024. This represents a 63 percent growth, showcasing enhanced operational efficiency and improved compliance levels.
The command’s revenue collection reflects focused reforms and targeted enforcement activities. Edelduok assured that the Command would maintain a posture of alertness and zero tolerance for infractions while continuing constructive engagement with stakeholders.
