The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq-Achida, has dismissed efforts to form a political coalition in Northern Nigeria, labeling it as a gathering of “paperweight politicians” lacking electoral significance.

In a media parley, Sadiq-Achida asserted that Sokoto alone could deliver sufficient votes to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the North, regardless of any coalition that may arise.

He specifically criticized former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, claiming he has lost political relevance in his home state due to past actions that alienated voters.

Sadiq-Achida also commented on the challenges faced by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, noting his struggles with internal party issues and diminishing support in Adamawa. He emphasized that those behind the Northern coalition were largely ineffective politicians without grassroots backing.

The chairman highlighted the case of former Senator Abubakar Gada, who he accused of attempting to disrupt the APC before joining the Social Democratic Party, where he reportedly received minimal support in the last governorship election.

Reaffirming the APC’s strength in Sokoto, Sadiq-Achida expressed confidence that the state would continue to support President Tinubu and the ruling party in future elections.
