Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has announced his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party with immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Kwankwaso expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve as the party’s National Leader and its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections. He described the decision to leave the party as difficult.
He, however, explained that the current political situation in the country requires a strategic realignment. According to him, this informed his decision to identify with another political platform that offers a better chance to bring about meaningful change.
Kwankwaso also thanked the party’s National Chairman, Ajuji Ahmed, and members of the National Working Committee for their support during his time in the party.
He further appreciated the Board of Trustees, National Executive Committee, party leaders at all levels, and members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement for their commitment and loyalty.
The former Kano State governor stated that collaboration towards building a better and more prosperous Nigeria would continue despite his exit from the party.
