Kebbi State Deputy Speaker, Muhammadu Ismail, has regained his freedom from his abductors on Saturday, following his kidnapping the previous week after prayers at a mosque in his hometown of Bagudo.
Local radio reports from Birnin Kebbi confirmed his release, although specific details about the circumstances were not available at the time of reporting.
Kebbi State Police spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, requested time to gather more information regarding the incident.
Ismail’s release coincided with interfaith prayers held in Birnin Kebbi, where Muslim and Christian clerics sought divine intervention to address the escalating insecurity in the state. The governor has urged politicians to refrain from politicizing the issue of security.
