The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, January 16, 2027, for the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Commission had earlier scheduled the Presidential and National Assembly elections for Saturday, February 20, 2027, and the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections for Saturday, March 6, 2027, in line with the Electoral Act, 2022.
However, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, announced the revised dates.
According to him, while the Presidential and National Assembly elections will now hold on January 16, 2027, the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections have been rescheduled to Saturday, February 6, 2027.
Further details are expected to be provided by the Commission.
