The All Progressives Congress League of Professionals (ALP) has commended National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for the steady improvements in Nigeria’s security landscape under his leadership. Ribadu, a retired police officer and former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was appointed NSA by President Bola Tinubu in 2023 as part of efforts to tackle insecurity nationwide.
In a statement signed by its Convener, Comrade Marlin Daniel, the ALP praised Ribadu’s coordination of security agencies during recent counter-terrorism operations. The group highlighted the recent arrests of individuals linked to violent extremism as positive steps in the fight against terrorism.
The ALP believes that intelligence-driven operations will help reduce violent crimes, particularly in the North-Central and North-West regions. They urged continued collaboration among security agencies and expressed optimism that sustained efforts would lead to further improvements in peace and security across the country.
While acknowledging that security challenges cannot be resolved overnight, the ALP remains encouraged by ongoing operations and confident in the potential for greater successes under purposeful leadership. They also recognized progress reported in states like Zamfara, Sokoto, Plateau, and Benue, viewing it as beneficial for social and economic activities.
The group passed a vote of confidence in Ribadu and encouraged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing timely information and cooperation to consolidate the gains achieved thus far.
