Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers have abducted Nelson Adepoyigi, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. Adepoyigi, who also serves as the chairman of APC in Ifon Ward 5, was abducted on Monday evening along the Benin-Ifon-Owo expressway, specifically near the entrance of his farm on Ifon-Owo Road. The incident occurred in a rural area, raising concerns about the safety of residents and politicians in the region.

The Ondo State Police Command, through its spokesperson DSP Olushola Ayanlade, confirmed the abduction and stated that a comprehensive manhunt had been launched to apprehend the suspects. The police have teamed up with local hunters, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), and personnel from the Nigerian Army to track down the kidnappers. According to Ayanlade, “At the receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ifon, in collaboration with hunters and other security agencies, launched a manhunt for the suspect(s).”

The police are urging anyone with information that could help in locating Adepoyigi or identifying the perpetrators to come forward. They have also advised local residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities, emphasizing that timely information could significantly aid in the ongoing rescue operation.
